What to Do Before Your Baby Arrives and Where to Buy Supplies Such as a Digital Children’s Thermometer

If you’re expecting a new baby, you know what an exciting and joyful time it will be, but also that the transition will be challenging. Even if you already have one or more children, your new addition will upset your routines and change things up in your household for quite a while. Some people find this transition harder than others, but there are some ways to prepare that can help it go more smoothly for anyone.

Prepare some meals ahead of time

While you’re waiting for the big day to arrive, you can make use of your baby-free time by getting a jumpstart on meal prep. You don’t have to devote entire weekends to cooking; if it’s easier for you, simply double up on the meals you cook in the weeks before you deliver and stash the extras in the freezer. Most soups freeze well, as does meat; you can freeze many casseroles, stuffed peppers, egg muffins, fajitas, lasagne, and much more. Sleepless days and nights will be more comfortable if you don’t also have to worry about what’s for dinner.

Declutter as much as possible

Having fewer belongings means you’ll spend less time cleaning, organising, and maintaining them. Pare down the clutter in your home to make it not only visually more pleasing and less stressful but also undemanding to maintain. Look for things that you don’t need or that don’t make you happy, and remove them from your life. Now is a good time to simplify things as much as you can.

Get the nursery and baby supplies ready

It may go without saying, but make sure you have everything you need for your new baby before they arrive so that you don’t find yourself having to run out in the middle of the night because you forgot something. There are many useful checklists available. In general, you’ll need things for the nursery, such as a crib, dresser, changing table, and baby monitor. Clothing including t-shirts, pyjamas, socks, and a warm sweater. Feeding supplies such as a nursing pillow, burp cloths, bottles, and a breast pump; and cleaning and medical supplies including baby shampoo, a soft brush, mild laundry soap, and a digital thermometer for baby. These are just a few of the supplies you’ll need; being fully equipped before your baby arrives will keep stress and confusion to a minimum during those first few weeks.
